"eclectic, original needlepoint translated into custom made soft textiles"
Arts like needlepoint have a certain reputation for being staid, subdued, and—let’s just say it—very traditional, without much room for alteration. Mommani Threads turns all that upside down and inside out!
Founder and Designer Cheryl Westbrook hand-embroiders her original needlepoint canvases stream of consciousness. These hyper-colored designs are influenced by fantastical whimsy; music; nature; fur babies; sassy wit; pop art; and a dose of just plain weirdness.
Her innovative process turns wool canvases into private label fabrics - luscious velvet and soft organic cotton sateen - used to create unique home goods. The fabrics are environmentally-friendly, digitally printed in water-based, eco-friendly inks.
Local artisans, truly a teeny-tiny-team, put the items together. More than mere pillows, they are pieces of soft, textile art. Originating in the Blue Ridge Mountains of NC, they are filled with affection, personality, and a warmth that only hand-touched goods can impart.
Cheryl's work has been recognized by Oprah, featured in a Gucci pop-up at Art Basel, purchased by Bergdorf Goodman and countless designer and personal homes.
In addition to designs featured, she accepts commissions for personalized, heirloom works of art.
